Pondering Culture
DSISD Visionary Leaders collaboratively read and shared The Innovator's Mindset by George Couros in about two hours!!! It brought about discussion, learning and reflection.
Things to ponder...
When a learner walks into our schools and classrooms:
-do they feel valued?
-if absent will they be missed?
-do they have a voice... and choice?
-are they given a foundation through which they can create and innovate?
-do they have innovative teachers and leaders?
-is a growth and innovative mindset nourished by the actions and words of those around them?
-are they creators?
-do they feel connected?
-do they feel safe to innovate, take risks and fail?
-are they led and guided to be their personal best?
-are they pushed to think critically?
-are they given time to develop passions, reflect, and grow?
-do they feel empowered?
-are they not only allowed but encouraged to be themselves and follow their own path?
Can we think about this from the perspective of all LEARNERS - teachers, students, administration, parents, etc.?
What are other questions should we ask when we consider our educational culture?
